Classics Reimagined

Inkblot Art • Cover Design

  • Classics Reimagined is a hypothetical brand which seeks to offer limited releases of classic books by known authors. For 2024, the brand chose to feature the works of Robert Louis Stevenson, featuring three of his novels.

Utilizing inkblot art created by the designer, the aim was to conceptualize and isolate various elements of the inkblot to match each book thematically and create a unified look for the limited release.

  • The target audience for the modernized editions of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classics encompasses individuals aged 30-40 who have fond memories of exploring these stories in their youth and are eager to pass on this literary heritage to their children.

With refreshed cover designs that appeal to contemporary sensibilities, these editions aim to attract both younger readers and adults seeking a nostalgic connection, fostering a tradition of family reading or personal collection inspired by Stevenson’s timeless works.

  • This design choice invites those encountering the covers to engage in a personal interpretation journey, allowing the inkblot’s shape to evoke varied thoughts and perspectives.

Red hues and spine typography were chosen to unify the book collection, while cover typography varies to capture each book’s unique theme.

This not only enhances individual appeal but also ensures visual harmony when displayed together, striking a balance between distinction and cohesion across the series.
